[edit] Removal of Style Cleanup Tag

I didn't mean to offend anyone by adding a style cleanup tag, but the article really could use a once-over. I'll be more than happy to do it, but it's always good to have others contribute, and adding that tag make sure others know the article is out there in the universe.

I'm going to add it again if there aren't any objections. Pjorg 20:04, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I probably wrote most of it initially, and it would have been one of my early efforts here, maybe even before I was a registered user. You need to tell me specifically what you have a problem with, and I'll see what I can do. Wahkeenah 20:06, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Okay, well, I just thought that comments like, "Being a memorial to the first (and what was vainly hoped would be the only) World War..." and "...hopefully this Grand Old Southern Lady will continue to grace its neighborhood for years to come" really lean towards editorialization, and could stand to be removed. The substance of the article isn't hurt at all by removing that first parenthetical clause, and in fact probably helps keep the reader focused. As for the second reference, unless you can find some reference that gives the ballpark the nickname "Grand Old Southern Lady," then it kind of just seems like grandstanding and creates NPOV issues.
Also, "Yanceyville" and "Lindsay" need to be complete street names. Someone from outside Greensboro won't have a clue as to whether they're streets, neighborhoods, towns, etc. Pjorg 20:17, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
As it was one of my earlier efforts, I hadn't gotten the point yet about keeping the editorializing down. Considering it took over a year for someone to notice it, you can see what an impact this article had. Anyway, I'll see what I can about fixing it up. Maybe I can even find a photo to go with it. d:) Wahkeenah 20:33, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
