[edit] Who holds the record?

There are a number of problems associated with the current claim of Citipointe Church to this record.

When the note of a record attempt was first added, it said that the teams played for 34 hours, but this has recently changed to 33 hours and 30 minutes. Presumably the first time was correct, or it wouldn't have been posted.

Two previous records, held by Cricket Club des Ormes and Cheriton Fitzpaine Cricket Club, ended at an irregular time (i.e. 26 hours 12 minutes, and 27 hours 34 minutes respectively). The uniform time of 33 hours and 30 minutes, and more so the original time of 34 hours, arouse suspicion.

The claim states that all the team have got certificates from Guinness World Records, however, for group records, Guinness only supply one certificate to the whole group.

The claim is also unverifiable. There are numerous resources available for the two previous records, but a simple Google search for this claim finds only mirrors of this Wikipedia article and one, seemingly sourced from Wikipedia, article about another team attempting the record in the future. There is no mention of the record in the Citipointe Church Wikipedia article, nor on their own website.

Finally, after a personal request, Guinness were unable to confirm the record to me citing that it was still held by Cheriton Fitzpaine Cricket Club, who have a picture of their certificate on their website.

I await a response from the editor of the article, as they are not a registered user, with evidence of their claim. Andy Hartley 19:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

After waiting over a week I am reverting to the previous record. Andy Hartley 14:27, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Longest Cricket Marathon

It was interesting reading the article regarding Citipointe's previous record and that you say it was un-verified, if this were the case how did it make it into the Guinness World record book? We have just received confirmation from Guinness World records by receipt of there certificate confirming that our attempt on the 8th/9th September 2007 was successful and that we have set a new World Record of 35 Hours. Having gone through the whole process the people at GWR require a substantial amount of evidence to be provided unless of course you employ one of their ajudicators to witness the event. I understand that Citipointe are in fact making a new attempt on the 20th March 2008 so watch this space, is this record set to be a second "Ashes" style event?
