It's a very good graph, but why the checkered background? I think it's distracting Ordosingularis (talk) 09:13, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

What you are seeing is wikipedia rendering a transparent PNG; The chequered background is used to help identify regions of transparency. If you click on the SVG, or use it in an article, you will see that the chequered background will disappear. You will note that many SVG images will have this property.
