I've been thinking it over, and I think I made to many categories. Can anyone think of a clean, efficient way to break up the aircraft without the constant category overlap? For starters, I'm thinking of replacing light/medium/heavy bombers with tactical vs. strategic bombers. Oberiko 02:04, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I'm going to follow the lead set by others and classify aircraft by time in decades (XXX0-XXX9). I think that's more definitive then by conflict (which can go on a list page). It'll be catagorized by the aircrafts service life-time (An aircraft that's in the air for 30 years will be shown in multiple categories etc.). I'm also going to simplify the categories to [Country] [Role] [Time period].
The various roles will be: Fighters (interceptors, night-fighters etc.), Tactical bombers (light bombers, dive-bombers and torpedo bombers), Strategic bombers, and Other (transport, recon, training etc.) Oberiko 16:18, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
