Wonderland Amusement Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Wonderland Amusement Park operated from 1906 to 1911 in Revere, Massachusetts. It included roller coasters, a reenactment of an urban conflagration, and various ethnic and technological attractions. It is cited as a possible inspiration for Disneyland. The park closed for financial reasons. In 1935, the Wonderland Racetrack opened on the site.
The park was served by the Boston, Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad, known as the "Narrow Gauge". Today the rail stop is called Wonderland, and is the northern terminus of the MBTA Blue Line.
Wonderland is a few hundred feet from Revere Beach, which has been a popular summer recreation area since the coming of the Narrow Gauge in 1875.
