Women's Electoral Lobby
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Women's Electoral Lobby (WEL) is an Australian lobby group established to protect and enhance the rights of women.
WEL was founded by Beatrice Faust in Melbourne in 1972 when she invited ten women to a meeting to discuss the upcoming Federal election. From those roots, WEL has grown to being a national lobby group with branches in all States and Territories. It is non-party political and non-sectarian.
Former Senator Patricia Giles founded the WEL branch in Perth in 1973.
