[edit] "Roles" section

What use is this with no explanation of who these characters are? What purpose is there in telling us "Gerald" and "Helga" are in the show if we have no idea who they are? This info, copied from Stageagent.com, has added nothing of value to the article and should be removed. SFTVLGUY2 22:05, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Since the major characters are identified within the plot synopsis, I've removed the separate section listing them yet again. SFTVLGUY2 17:26, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Most WP editors, including me, think a list of roles or characters is an essential part of a complete article. It gives a reader somc context to help them understand the synopsis and the song list (where the song list shows who sings each song). Please do not remove it. Also, Raquel Welch played a good chunk of the Broadway run (in addition to filling in for Bacall earlier). -- Ssilvers 18:27, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Repeating the cast of characters already mentioned within the synopsis is unnecessary filler. And using descriptive adjectives in listing them is ludicrous. Are you suggesting only a "handsome" actor could play the role? If you're going to copy verbatim from Stageagent.com, you might at least apply some judicious editing.
You clearly are obsessed with quantity rather than quality. A lengthy article doesn't mean it's better, especially if its length is padded by the repetition of information. Encyclopedias are comprised of articles, not lists.
And where are all these editors to whom you constantly refer for support? Certainly not busy writing, that's for sure. It appears the only active musicals project editors these days are I, writing original articles, and you, tinkering with them in your inimitable way. I can't get too concerned about a "consensus" formulated by what appears to be a party of one.
As far as Welch is concerned, IBDb lists her as appearing in the show for only two weeks. The New York Times review of her performance you added to references (quite unnecessarily, given it was for a two-week performance, but another example of your need to pad articles) states she was a vacation sub. You are not correct (except for Eden). Raquel Welch took over the role. IBDB does not have complete information in many instances. Here is an article explaining first her filling in and then taking over the role: [1] (references that I had added to the article previously also establish this fact). The role of Sam necessarily calls for a handsome actor. One of the weaknesses of this show (as compared with the movie) is that the setup depends on Tess being bowled over by Sam's manly beauty, as the references describe. -- Ssilvers 23:15, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
