Wolfgang Ullmann

Wolfgang Ullmann (18 August 1929 - 30 July 2004) was a German journalist, theologian, politician.

Ullmann was born in Bad Gottleuba near Dresden. He studied Evangelist theology and philosophy in Berlin and then in the University of Göttingen from 1948 to 1954.

After completing his graduation he returned to East Germany in 1954 and became a minister in Colmnitz, Saxony. In 1963 he was appointed in the Katecheti upper seminar Naumburg as the lecturer in church history.

From 1978, he lecturered in church history, as well as world and historical jurisprudence at the Sprachenkonvikt in east Berlin, the training centre of the Evangelist church Berlin/Brandenburg in East Germany. Commitment in opposition movements under the roof of the Evangelist church of the GDR were formed. In 1987 he became a member of the working group “initiative for refusal at practice and principle of the demarcation”.

He was married in 1956 and had three children. He died during a vacation in the ore mountains.
