"Wolf Like Me" is the first single from the TV on the Radio album Return to Cookie Mountain, released in the United Kingdom on July 25, 2006 on 4AD Records. The single's B-side was the song "Things You Can Do," which was also available as a bonus track on the U.S. release of Return to Cookie Mountain. It was released in two formats, CD single and 7" vinyl.

"Wolf Like Me" features on the soundtrack of the popular Xbox 360 video game Project Gotham Racing 4, Need for Speed: ProStreet,the soundtrack for The Invisible and also in the 2008 film Never Back Down. It can also be heard during the closing minutes of episode 2 of season 4 of the American drama Rescue Me (TV series) and near the start of the season 3 premiere of CBS show Criminal Minds. This song can also be found on the snowboarding video Optimistic? by Absinthe Films as well as the ski movie "Seven Sunny Days" for Marc Abma's segment. Lastly, the very beginning of Wolf Like Me can be heard at the beginning of the American commercial for the film Street Kings.
