[edit] Licensing
This is a copyrighted image that has been released by a company or organization to promote their work or product in the media, such as advertising material or a promotional photo in a press kit. The copyright for it is most likely owned by the company who created the promotional item or the artist who produced the item in question; you must provide evidence of such ownership. Lack of such evidence is grounds for deletion as established by these terms of use. It is believed that the use of some images of promotional material to illustrate:
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other usage of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, might be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:Publicity photos. |
Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- This is an image uploaded for informational purposes only, to visually identify the two principal actors in the feature film Meet Nero Wolfe in the article infobox
- The image is an accurate low-resolution scan of a black-and-white glossy promotional photograph distributed by the studio, which intended promotional use.
- This image is of low resolution. It cannot be used for high-resolution printing, and any copies made from it will be of inferior quality.
- The photograph's inclusion in the article Meet Nero Wolfe adds to the Adaptations section significantly because it visually identifies Edward Arnold (1890–1956) in his only performance of the role of Nero Wolfe. It is a publicity still that represents the teaming of Arnold and Lionel Stander (1908–1994) in what was to be a series of features. Its signficance is such that it has been reproduced in books including Jon Tuska's The Detective in Hollywood (1978, Doubleday and Company ISBN 0385120931 page 57).
- The copyright owner's rights to reproduce the image are not limited in any way.
