During the mid 1980's the Club made a series of applications to join the Ovens and Murray Football League. In 1988 the club was accepted into the League after defeating the Mitta United Football Club in the Tallangatta and District Football League grand final.
They changed their name to the Wodonga Raiders Football Club so as to not cause confusion with the Benalla Demons and the long established Wodonga Football Club.
