Woden's Folk

Woden's Folk is a neopagan group based in England in the United Kingdom. Under the banner of Wodenism, the group combines elements of Germanic neopaganism, Christianity, Ancient Egyptian religion[1], the Holy Grail[1] and numerous other references to occult subjects. The group self-describes as the "Religion of the New Age".[2]
According to the group's official website, the Woden's Folk was founded by "Wulf". The group states that Ragnarök has already occurred and (citing signs as the prophesies of Nostradamus, the arrival of the Comet Hale-Bopp) that the death of Woden gives way to the birth of an Avatar. Furthermore, the group espouses apocalyptic prophecies by their founder, Wulf, and uses their own runic system, Ar-Kan Rune-Lag, which partially references the Anglo-Saxon futhorc.

The group's official website states that their purpose is to prepare for a great deluge that will appear:
"There is a likelihood of a Great Flood that will hit the South of England with a vengeance, and effect the whole of these islands as a result; this may well be followed by a great ice-up when freezing weather will bring everything to a halt. Such a plunge into a mini Ice Age would be a disaster, but maybe a blessing in disguise, for the whole land of England will be changed, and we must be prepared to help change this for the good.
It is for this reason that we are building a Folkish Brotherhood that will prepare itself for the worst, and be ready for whatever comes when it does. We are looking at the Year 12 Age of Ing (2012) as a pointer for change. This is not to say anything will happen in this particular year, but this is the year when change will start to happen; whether this is sudden or gradual we cannot tell, but there will be natural disasters that will casue quick changes to this land."[3]

The Woden's Folk website presents an apocalyptic, rhyming prophecy attributed to the founder of the group, Wulf.[4]
[edit] Ar-Kan Rune-Lag
The Woden's Folk website states that the group uses a "a new runic system devised by Wulf" entitled the "Ar-Kan Rune-Lag" system. The group defines the concept further:
"The name Ar-Kan Rune-Lag has various meanings at different levels, but its most basic meaning is The Aryan Secret Way. This derives from Ar-Kan = Aryan, Rune = Secret, and Lag = Way/Laws. This idea takes us back into the ancient world of our most ancient ancestors - descendants of the Solar Race or Shining Ones. These were the mythical figures with a shining countenance who brought knowledge, wisdom & understanding to all peoples, but whose presence upon Earth grew less as the downward time-cycle progressed into the Dark Age we live through today. The true meaning of the term Aryan means "Movement Generator" or "Sun-Generator" which relates to energy, creation and upward evolution."[1]

On July 2, 2007, members of Woden's Folk demonstrated with a group of Neo-Druids in East Sussex against the filming of the television show Trinny & Susannah Undress at the site of the Long Man of Wilmington.[5]
