WNSB (91.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting urban contemporary and jazz formats. Licensed to Norfolk, Virginia, USA, it serves the Norfolk, Virginia area. The station is currently owned by Norfolk State University. The station is run primarily by students in the Mass Communications & Journalism Department.
The station first went on the air in on February 22, 1980 with 1000 watts broadcasting 5 hours per day of mostly instructional programming. On Friday, April 25, 1980, WNSB radio became the Tidewater area's first Jazz station and began broadcasting twelve hours per day.
WNSB is associated with the Tidewater Area Radio Broadcasters, Virginia Association of Broadcasters, Broadcast Education Association, National Association of Broadcasters and the National Broadcasting Society ( Alpha Epsilon Rho ).
