WNRP (NewsRadio 1620) is licensed to Gulf Breeze, Florida and serves the greater Pensacola area. It was built in 2003 in the City of Pensacola on a new 180-foot tower using a folded unipole antenna. WNRP does not, however, broadcast in HD at this time.
In late 2005, Dave and Mary Hoxeng debuted "Classic Country AM1620" at a full-power of 10,000 watts with live personalities including Pensacola Native and Nashville Legend Larry Butler.
In September 2007, NewsRadio 1620 was created with priorities of Live Talk and Local Talk as well as Fox Radio news twice an hour. NewsRadio 1620 has great local talent on LIVE including nationally known comedian/ humorist/ and political insider, T-Bubba Bechtol in the mornings along with his wife Tarsha, local favorite personality Wendi Summers, world-famous country music producer Larry Butler, Pensacola’s popular columnist and newspaper editor Rick Outzen, followed by well known on-air personality and pro golfer Marty Stanovich. NewsRadio 1620 operates in the Expanded Band and is the most powerful AM station in Pensacola with 10,000 watts day and 1,000 watts night.
NewsRadio 1620 also carries live sports including: Pensacola Ice Pilots Hockey, Pensacola Pelicans Baseball, NASCAR, Florida State University football and basketball, seasonal local high school prep sports. (http://www.newsradio1620.com)
