Photograph of locomotive No. 7 of the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company sometime between its construction in 1885 and the acquisition of the WMR by the New Zealand Railways Department. It later became NZR V class 451.

Photographer and the precise date and location of photograph are unknown. No longer covered by copyright in New Zealand due to age. If still under copyright in any countries, it qualifies for fair use as a rare photo of a locomotive in active service for the WMR. As a photo of an operational WMR locomotive, it also cannot currently be reproduced as neither the particular locomotive nor any of its type have survived to be preserved and the only WMR locomotive currently being restored (No. 9) is yet not in an operational state.
