[edit] History

WM-data was founded by Thord Wilkne and Hans Mellström (the W and M in the company's name) in 1969 in Stockholm, Sweden. Today the company is one of Sweden's leading IT company and has regional offices in numerous cities located in the Nordic countries. The company offers overall solutions in IT related areas. It is divided in three branches: branding, specialist and infrastructure, where its main areas are the secondary sector of industry, commerce and logistics, bank, finance and insurance, telecommunications, public sector, medicine and health care, and utility.

[edit] Market

Its main market is the Nordic countries and its main customers are large companies and organisations. The Swedish branch stands for around 65 % of the turnover, Denmark 15 %, Norway and Finland around 10 % each.

[edit] Acquisitions

In May, 2005, WM-data acquired Atos Origin's operations in Sweden and Norway for approximately 1.33 billion SEK. The parties also agreed to an Enterprise Alliance Agreement to strengthen future cooperations.[2]

On August 21, 2006, British LogicaCMG announced their offer to acquire WM-data's entire share capital.[3] If the acquisition goes through LogicaCMG expects WM-data to be the company's fourth best "moneymaker" after Great Britain, the Netherlands and France. The Nordic region will compromise 23 % of the group's turnover and will be the largest geographic area.[4]

On October 10, 2006, LogicaCMG announced that over 85 % of WM-data's shareholders agreed to sell their shares, which means that WM-data is, as of October 10, a subsidiary of LogicaCMG.[1]
