[edit] History
Over the Years..WLYC has always maintained the same call letters since day one...that's a feat that is slowly fading away with radio stations.
WLYC has been Williamsport's all-sports radio station since January 1, 2005 and carries Mike & Mike in the Morning (6am-10am); Colin Cowherd (10am-1pm); Dan Patrick (1pm-3pm); and local sports talk (The Locker Room from 4pm-5pm, 7pm-8pm) and Jed Donahue from 5pm-7pm.
WLYC has seen a variety of formats through the years; it has been an Adult Contemporary/Adult Standards station (2002-2004); a Patriot Talk station (1999-2002); Classic Country (1997-1999); Music of Your Life station (1972-1997); and Top 40, along with various other formats prior to that.
WLYC has also seen great personalities come through the doors on Pine Street and Market Street in Williamsport and now in South Williamsport. Mike Yoder (the best morning show host ever on WLYC), served up mornings for 13 years. Lou Kolb, Vanessa Hunter (the ultimate news anchor), Dr. Jay Richards, and Sam Jordan.
Prior to its change to sports programming, WLYC was one of the premier stations that people could rely upon for local news coverage. Vanessa Hunter kept listeners informed of the latest news affecting the region, Bill Keen was also instrumental in bringing WLYC sports reports to keep the fans updated of local high school and college sports.
WLYC is now experiencing a rebirth as ESPN Radio 1050 and features Mike and Mike in the Morning, Colin Cowherd and Jed Donahue in afternoons. WLYC also carries news at the top of the hour from Fox NewsChannel.
