The station went on the air as WEZO on 1988-06-21. on 1990-02-26, the station changed its call sign to WRMM, on 1993-05-14 to WCMF, on 1997-08-01 to WDCZ, on 1999-12-01 to the current WLGZ,[2]

On February 11, 2008, the station's "Legends" format was modified to incorporate more oldies and officially moved to sister station WLGZ-FM 102.7 (formerly WRCI "The Light", a Contemporary Christian station). WLGZ-AM continues to broadcast as a shadowcast of the FM signal.
