Kix Country 97.7 in Kinston, North Carolina, is the latest radio station to use the WKIX call letters. These were used for many years by the Raleigh station now called WRBZ, followed by the Raleigh station now called WBBB, then the station now called WYMY and the station now called WWNF (in Goldsboro). The first station to be called WKIX was WISW in Columbia, South Carolina.

At one time this frequency was home to WQDW, an urban contemporary station in Kinston along with sister station WISP 1230 (now WLNR).
