WKHX-FM, known as "Kicks 101.5", is an Atlanta FM radio station that plays country music. Its city of license is Marietta, Georgia. "Kicks" debuted in 1980 after Capital Cities purchased the station. WKHX used to simulcast on AM 590 which is now Radio Disney. In 1995 ABC bought then rival Country Station WYAY Y106.7, which is now True Oldies 106.7. WKHX used to use WYAY to keep any new Country Station from starting in Atlanta, which worked until December 2006 when Clear Channel started 94.9 The Bull WUBL-FM. Morning show host Cadilliac Jack who has worked at the station since 1994 started out doing 7pm-12mid,then in September of 1996 moved over to sister station WYAY to do the afternoons before moving back to WKHX in 2000 when WYAY decided to play more classic country. In May of 2006 it was announced that he would be the new morning show host.
Originally WBIE-FM(debuting in 1968), it simulcast the original WBIE-AM 1080 kHz. Station manager at the time James M. Wilder has a technology laboratory building named after him at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta. WKHX is owned by ABC Radio Atlanta, LLC, a subsidiary of American Broadcasting Company. This is one of the several Disney/ABC Radio stations now merged with Citadel Broadcasting.
