[edit] History

WKDQ aired an Adult Contemporary and Oldies hybrid format in the 1980s. While it did reasonably well, management saw greater opportunity in challenging Wing 105 (Now WJLT) and WBKR, so they flipped WKDQ to country in 1992. The station instantly became a success, surpassing WYNG and WBKR in ratings. Eventually, WYNG's country format was completely eliminated in favor of Sports Talk under the ESPN Radio brand. WKDQ is currently the highest rated country station in the Evansville market.

[edit] Other Facts

During severe weather situations, the audio of ABC television affiliate WEHT News25's weather coverage is aired on WKDQ until the severe weather has moved out of the listening area [1].
