[edit] New Media for a New Millennium (NM2)
You asked about this on Wikipedia_talk:Help. You should probably mention this on the Village Pump; it'll get more notice.

[edit] American Technology Research
Apologies, but your recent article on American Technology Research was a speedy deletion candidate under criterion #3. By having only a single line and then an external link to the company's website, it qualified as advertising/spam. I appreciate that such might not have been your intent or desire and hope that you'll feel free to give it another shot, if you believe that the company is notable and will be sought by researchers and that it can be discussed. [edit] Tyco
1,000 acquisitions? Are you sure? Could you cite me to an authority for that? I'm the person who wrote in the "200 acquisitions" figure. I did so based on a statement on p. 72 of Roger Lowenstein's book, Origins of the Crash (2004). --Christofurio 00:27, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC) I see, i came accross that info today when i was reading "Crafting and Executing strategy 14th edition" by Arthur A. Thompson Jr. page 252. I also found it hard to believe, mainly because i feel books published by McGraw-Hill are terribly useless. I would however not object with reverting back to 200 companies, but be aware that someone felt that they have acquired 1000 companies and there may be truth in that. Please send back a note so that i can know whether you got this message Muriithi
Thanks for the note. I've added the phrase "by some accounts" before the 1,000 number just to let people know there's room for dispute. Anyone who is made curious by that can now go to the Talk page and see each of our references. --Christofurio 17:10, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)
Yeah, i agree that is the best way to solve it gathima 17:38, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
[edit] Thomas Joseph Mboya
I moved your article at Mboya, Thomas Joseph to Thomas Joseph Mboya. This is the standard naming convention at Wikipedia. Your redirect is no longer necessary. Thank you. I have no problem with that.
[edit] News links
Hi Wk. I saw your external links on malaria and tuberculosis. There is a big problem with posting news articles links on Wikipedia. Often, the articles are inaccurate or poorly sourced. When it comes to medical articles, the news is often preceded by (or coincides with) a very similar report in the medical professional literature. For Wikipedia, I would be strongly in favour of citing these professional reports rather then newsworthy spinoffs. JFW | T@lk 20:46, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Adding new definitions
I have dealt with your addition to shed by creating a disambiguation page. Normally I would have said that the 'casting off' definition is just a dictionary definition, and so is not strictly relevant to Wikipedia, and would be better suited to Wiktionary. However, there was a link from acne, and strangely none from snake, so I created the disambig page for the hell of it. Hope that this is OK with you. Noisy | Talk 22:18, Dec 19, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Signing
Please sign your messages on talk pages. This is simple: type ~~~~ and the wiki will insert your name and timestamp, like this: JFW | T@lk 19:59, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] DSL history - source?
You added the following paragraph to the DSL page. It makes some claims that I haven't heard elsewhere. Could you add some sources for it(news reports, historical studies, etc.)? It's good writing, and interesting, but it needs to be sourced.
The paragraph: "Its origin dates back to 1988, when an engineer at Bell research lab deviced a way to carry digital signal over the unused frequency spectrum. This allows ordinary phone line to provide digital communication without blocking access to voice services. Bells management however were not enthusiastic about it as it was not as profitable as renting out a second line for those consumers who prefered to still have acess to the phone when dialing out. This however changed in the late 90s when cable companies started marketing broadband internet access. Realising that most consumers would prefer broadband over a second dial out line, Bell companies rushed out the DSL technology that they had been sitting on for the past decade as an attempt to slow broadband internet access uptake." - diff JesseW 19:52, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Signing your posts
Hi Wk, regarding your recent posts to Talk:Rachel Corrie, could you please sign your posts to talk pages in future? I see JFW has already explained that you do this by typing four tildes after your post. See Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages for more details. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk) 21:27, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] User Categorisation
You were listed on the Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Ontario page as living in or being associated with Ontario. As part of the Wikipedia:User categorisation project, these lists are being replaced with user categories. If you would like to add yourself to the category that is replacing the page, please visit Category:Wikipedians in Ontario for instructions.--Rmky87 04:49, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] National Health Service
Thank you for pointing out the relative date problem on the NHS article, though it's considered bad practice to put pointers like that in the actual article text. The talk page would be a much better place, but even better would be to find the relevant fact yourself! Google is your friend in this respect. Cheers, - mholland 14:34, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikimedia Canada
Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 15:14, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Gold
I was interested to see what you wrote in Talk:Renminbi re gold. I've just recently watched The Money Masters. Have you seen it? (I don't know whether what they say is accurate or not.) JohnGH 13:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Philanthropist
I've added the "prod" template to the article Philanthropist, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Philanthropist. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. — Sebastian (talk) 03:44, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

National Association of Professional Organizers, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. [edit] wikileaks
This is censorship, as they quite rightly state in their press release. I have added a section, feel free/help to incorporate. Pnd (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 00:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] David C. McClelland
A tag has been placed on David C. McClelland, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to a nonexistent page.
If you can fix this redirect to point to an existing Wikipedia page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you also fix the redirect. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
