IMDb profile

Without a Paddle is a 2004 film about three men going on a camping trip. The movie stars Matthew Lillard, Seth Green and Dax Shepard. The film is somewhat a parody of adventure films like Deliverance — indeed, one of the stars of Deliverance, Burt Reynolds, makes an appearance in the film, and the plot lines are similar.

The movie was filmed in New Zealand.

[edit] Plot

Following a friend's death, a group of three old friends go on an adventure, a search for the treasure of DB Cooper, which their dead buddy Billy planned for them years prior. Along the way, they meet up with several unsavory characters. Eventually the happenings on the camping trip expose weaknesses in each of their personalities that in the end strengthen their bond. By story's end, they find the treasure, only to discover that the treasure wasn't money(well, actually a little bit of money), but also being alive.

[edit] Reception

Without a Paddle received scathing reviews from the critics. Rotten Tomatoes currently states that only 14% of the reviews are positive. Likewise, Metacritic scored the film at 29, as "Generally negative reviews".

Despite the critical response, the film managed to collect $59 million at the domestic box office.
