[edit] Plot
Steve loses interest in his activities with Stan, who quickly dumps him for Steve's friend Barry, a kid who appreciates him. But Barry becomes very different, when he's not taking his "vitamins" (which turn out to be "retard aggression pills"). Barry goes insane and starts talking like Gary Oldman. Being preferred, he manages to have Steve sent to a youth penal oil rig in the Atlantic ocean where Steve must use his father's skills to escape.
Meanwhile, Roger's beer-drinking skills come in handy when he decides to join a fraternity at Hayley's college. However, he leaves when they tell him that "pledges" have to clean after the party while brothers sleep.

- The title refers to the 1998 film With Friends Like These....
- During the scene where Stan dances behind the X-ray screen he sings a part of the song Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo.
- Francine compares Steve's interest in Stan to America's interest in Arrested Development.
- The scene with the pill in the drink is a parody of a scene in The Princess Bride. Barry even mentions that Steve had once seen that film. In fact by knowing that Steve had based his trick on the Princess bride Barry should have guessed that both drinks were spiked.
- Stan plays Red Dawn with Barry.
- In the detention center Steve is sent to, one of the guards sings "Food Glorious Food."
- The detention center Oil Rig is that based on the prison camp in the film Face/Off.
- The scene where the fly crawls into Barry's mouth is a direct reference to the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark, in which the same thing happens to the villain Belloq during a speech.
- The boys who Steve is with in the detention center resemble Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman in Papillon.
- Hayley's college's claim to fame is the fact that Soul Man was almost shot there.
[edit] Notes
- Barry is shown mimicing all of Stan's likes and dislikes he is even seen wearing a exact replica of the navy blue suit with flag pin that Stan wears almost constantly, including his habit of sleeping in only his underwear.
