Witchaven II: Blood Vengeance is the sequel to Witchaven which was released in 1996 by Capstone Software and used Duke Nukem 3D-fame Build engine.
[edit] Story
The game takes place after the events of the first Witchaven. After waking up among burning ruins, you are informed by a dragon that Illwhyrin (the boss of the first game) had an equally evil sister named Cirae-Argoth. Cirae-Argoth who now wants to avenge Illwhyrin by kidnapping your countrymen. You have to explore 15 levels of a dungeon that the witch has devised, collect all the artifacts of power, and finally grow strong enough to face and destroy her and rescue your people.
[edit] Production and release
Unlike Witchaven, it came with the Build level editor which meant that you were now able to create your own levels for the game. The sequel had some improvements over the original game such as wielding two weapons, one in each hand.
Witchaven 2 was Capstone Software's last proprietary game release before they and their parent company, Intracorp went bankrupt. The were working on a game called Fate when they went bankrupt but only a demo was released.
