In 2008 I will be writing my thesis based heavily on discussion of Wikipedia. It is tentatively entitled "Wikipedia's Academic Lineage" and will be an attempt to draw parallels between academic debates on such topics as authority of knowledge, censorship, universalism, collective authorship etc. and our own similar debates. I believe that we can learn a great deal from these longstanding debates and, correspondingly, both academia and the wiki community should recognise our long pedigree - there is much each can appreciate from the other. I am writing this thesis using media-wiki on my (extremely empty looking) website just for the methodological kicks.
I hope to present this thesis at Wikimania 2008.

Tip of the day...
One problem that often occurs when building a complex table-based page, is that glitches show up on the page when viewed in other browsers, even though the page looks fine in the browser you used to build it. This problem is most prevalent when using new generation browsers and then viewing with Internet Explorer. Once the page is built, it can be very time-consuming to track down the bug, and may be faster to rebuild the page from scratch using IE, rather than spend time bug hunting. To prevent this problem, build the page using IE. If a page views properly in IE, then the chances are greater that it will display properly in other browsers, rather than the other way around.
