An {{Infobox Single}}, {{Infobox Song}} or {{Infobox Standard}} has been requested for this article. Please select the appropriate infobox and format it according to the guidelines.

An infobox was requested for Joe Cocker's 1968 recording of "With a Little Help from My Friends" at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Missing_encyclopedic_articles/List_of_notable_songs/14.

Isn't paragraph two somewhat of an urban legend? The group had pretty much written off live performances by then, and I doubt Ringo was thinking ahead years into the future to when he might perform the song on one of his solo tours. The earliest, and simplest, explanation I have heard for the lyric change is that Ringo simply thought the line "silly" and wanted it changed. Occam's Razor.

  • Watch the video about the making of Sgt. Pepper, and Ringo states his distaste for the line. You can watch the video here: [1]

Is it bad form to mention that the song is probably about masturbation? the iceman 04:44, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rewrote the origins slightly

I've changed the introduction to the Origins as it seemed to start off after the song had been written. I've added a link to Hunter Davies's biography as that describes the song's composition in some detail. I've also added the date the song was recorded - taken from Mark Lewisohn's complete recording sessions - but I don't yet know how to add citations!

[edit] Another version by Sergio Mendes?

In an album I recently got - "Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66" I found this same song, with a very different tune. Anyone know though of when did Sergio rewrite this or was it his original by chance? Abhishekbh 08:01, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

~~edit: I just found out some info, I'm adding it on. Apparently it's not the same song.

[edit] Ban in 1967?

I read that Spiro Agnew tried to get the song banned from radio play when Sgt. Pepper first came out. Nothing on this? Pele Merengue 02:06, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:With A Little Help From My Friends.jpg

Image:With A Little Help From My Friends.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
