Wish for Wings started out in the summer of 2002, blasting onto the local Brisbane music scene with their brutal blend of mosh and roll hardcore antics. Like most bands starting out, they never intended on playing shows outside of their home town let alone sharing the stage with international acts like Madball and Throwdown as they would discover later on down the track. They released a 4 track demo EP in mid 2003, which was recorded with Adam Merker at Studio Andeers Debeers and distributed through local record shops. But it was not the recording which caught the attention of the local punters. News quickly spread throughout the local community about the Wings and their heavy live show and out of control crowds. Jim Somers of River City Hardcore explains the band's early success. Right from the outset, these guys had a reputation for being one of the heaviest live acts around. I really think that kids were waiting for a band to come along that didnt need to be analysed, just simple heavy music that they could bang their heads to. Their crushing EP From The Past To The Grave dropped January last year and was released through Melbourne based indie label Washed Up Records. The guys have toured extensively around Australia and have since returned from their 2006 tour of New Zealand, and Canada. The plan for the new year is to release some new material, and do more touring.
