John Gillman
John is currently a Management Consultant working in Melbourne, Australia.
Born on December 3 1946, John epitomises the post war baby boomer. He was raised in the South Western suburbs of Sydney, in the days when Cabramatta was surrounded by bushland. He left school at 15 and completed an apprenticeship as a wood machinist before embarking on a 26 year career in the NSW Ambulance Service.
Throughout this career he was promoted up into the senior ranks of the Ambulance Service administration where he was a controversial Human Resource Manager, trying to build a different culture in the face of staid and stiff opposition. Resigning from the Ambulance Service position, he moved to Melbourne to allow his wife Robyn to pursue her career, which she has done very successfully.
John was employed by the Metropolitan Ambulance in Melbourne and he worked there as the Human Resource Manager until forming his own consultancy business in Emergency Service Management. This took him off to work in Malaysia for about 2 years. On return John was ill for a length of time and recovered and went on to work in management roles within the Aged Care industry. He also worked in the vocational education system, specialising in managing Aged Care training for care workers.
John and Robyn have been married for 38 years and have 2 grown up children, Craig (36) and Louise (33). Louise and her partner Nathan have 2 lovely children, Isaac (2 & 1/2) and Alannah (3 months). John enjoys his grandchildren very much.
John and Robyn live on a small farm in rural Victoria and run a small flock of Black Faced Suffolk sheep for meat production. They also have the usual farm animals such as chooks, geese, ducks and the like.
John is now working as a consultant and has his own small business ‘ResolutionHR’. He would be happy to talk to business people with a genuine interest in working to maximise their business potential through the development of their people.
