Winyaw

The Winyaw Indians (also Winyah, Weenee) were a tribe living near Winyah Bay, Black River, and the lower course of the Pee Dee River in South Carolina. The Winyaw people fought the English in 1715 and became extinct.

The tribe soon disappeared from history, probably uniting with the Waccamaw. Winyah Bay in South Carolina, however, still bears their name
