From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Windsor School is situated in Germany in the British Military complex JHQ (Joint Headquarters) which sits in Rheindahlen, near Mönchengladbach. It is part of SCE (Service Children's Education) and is one of four English secondary schools situated in Germany.

Windsor School opened in September 1987 with the merging of two long established Service Children’s Schools; Queen’s School, JHQ and Kent School which was in Hostert.

Windsor School remains in the same grounds and building as the former Queens School but has received upgrades to its building, such as an expansion of its West wing.

At its height Windsor School catered for over 1000 students from military personnel. However, due to the disbandment of the British Army of the Rhine in 1995 and related military drawdowns since, Windsor now caters for an average of 650 students.

Catering for 11 to 19 year olds, Windsor School is situated on Snyders Roads, JHQ. Its Students are a mix of daily pupils from the JHQ garrison, pupils bussed in from nearby MOD garrisons and weekly and termly boarders accommodated within its two boarding house's, Windsor House and School House. The school operates much like any normal British civilian facility and follows UK curricular guidelines and is subject to Ofsted reporting.

Windsor also has an attached Sixth Form, offering A Level and BETEC courses. The Sixth Form also participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including an annual RAG (Raising And Giving)Week, in which they host events to raise money for a variety of different charities.

Windsor School is run by Brian Davies and has a Teachers Council, a School Council and a Year Council
