Windows Journal is a notetaking application, created by Microsoft and included in certain editions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. It allows the user to create and organize handwritten notes and drawings. One can simply use an ordinary computer mouse to compose a handwritten note, though the use of a graphics tablet or a Tablet PC is recommended.

When first introduced, Windows Journal was only available in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. Currently, it is also included in premium versions of Windows Vista (Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate).

Windows Journal Viewer is a solution, created by Microsoft, that allows for the viewing of files created in Windows Journal on systems without the software. The current version is 1.5 and is available for Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003.
