Apparently the title of longest skating rink in the world for the Rideau canal is in dispute! A few days ago the NCC folks were out on the ice with GPS sets to measure exactly how long it was.

It was finally confirmed by Guinness World Records as the world's largest naturally frozen ice rink on Thursday, August 4, 2005. The official Guinness designation said the skateway is equivalent to 90 Olympic-sized skating rinks, or 7.8 kilometers. --PW 19:22, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Longest Skating Rink stub

This article contains a stub about the Rideau Canal as the world's longest skating rink. I propose that the section be removed and replaced with only a mention and that any detailed information regarding the canal as a rink should be put in the Rideau Canal article as skating on the canal is not purely a Winterlude activity.
