I Have cleaned up the article considerably and removed the following text here as it sounded like it belonged here rather than in the aticle proper.124.181.107.14 (talk) 01:31, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

I was one of the girls remanded and then committed as ward of the state in 1959/1963.I have never heard of Winnbirra remand while I was in Winlaton. We were sent straight to Goonyah on arrival and that is where we stayed until we could prove we were worthy, and then were sent to the next block Warrina. Goonyah was a lock up block and you were locked in all day every day. We never went outside, when we were not in our cells we were all locked in a recreation room with a large glass window facing the staff office. They could see what we were up to. If we wanted to go to the toilet we were escorted by one of the officers. I was locked in my cell for a week on 1 occasion and there was a girl in the next cell, we used a hair pin to scratch a brick out of the wall between our cells so as we could talk to each other. We would ly down on the floor and talk, and we were alerted if some one was coming as we could hear their footsteps on the polished floors. ( We would polish these floors on hands and knees with a dry scruubing brush, until they shone like a mirror.) There is so much more I could write, but I need to rest now. L Meyers(Koplick)
