[edit] Taking interest into account
The return on investment section asserts that "Taking interest into account, there is no real likelihood of ever recovering the equipment cost.", while assuming a constant electricity price for its calculations. This doesn't seem very fair or accurate. AbleRiver 13:35, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I don't quite understand your point, do you think the cost of electricity would go down over the next 20 years or that it is unfair to calculate interest on the initial investment? Ashley VH 17:49, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- This is all academic- the section is original research so shouldn't be in the article anyway Lurker (said ยท done) 18:03, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- That's a good point, the difficulty is finding a source that is not biased towards the sale of wind turbines. I have yet to find a site that gives a fair calculation of the financial return on investment for domestic turbines. Ashley VH 08:56, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- My point was that for the section to be fair and accurate it would need to take into account electricity price changes as well as interest. For all I know electricity prices may soar well above interest rates, which would make a turbine investment more favourable. It all seems very speculative. The section's been removed now, but maybe it could be replaced with a brief summary of factors affecting the possible return? AbleRiver 12:35, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Environmental technology template
I'd like to replace the Environmental technology template with one that matches the standard navbox style, i.e. horizontal instead of vertical, collapsing and typically placed at the bottom of article pages. I've done a mock up of what this would look like at {{User:Jwanders/ET}}. Figured this was a big enough change that I should post before going ahead with it. Please discuss here--jwandersTalk 22:03, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
