The screenshot of the software is copyrighted, but it is being used in the Windows Search and Features new to Windows Vista articles under U.S. Fair Use laws because:

The article talks about using a graphical interface to create a textual search query composed of special operators. Without an image, it is impossible to understand how this feature is exposed.
It helps visually identify the Search explorer feature of Windows Vista.
It does not limit, nor does it claim to limit, the rights of the copyright holder.
It does not help in illegal reproduction of the software.
The software is licensed under a non free license, so a free equivalent of this image cannot exist.
