WIMS is an AM Station broadcasting on 1420 kHz in Michigan City, Indiana, and serves the northwest Indiana listening area. Its format is primarily news, talk and sports.
WIMS was formerly a joint broadcast station with WJOB. Vazquez Development's WIMS (1420am Michigan City) and WJOB (1230am, Hammond) ended joint operations on June 1. Alexis Vazquez Dedelow and James Dedelow will continue running WJOB while former WJOB morning man Ric Federighi (along with his brothers Marc and Scott) will own and run WIMS.
Federighi is hiring local people to staff WIMS, as he wants to "return the station to Michigan City residents".
Live local mornings return to the South Shore as Chicago radio personality Ric Federighi interviews newsmakers, takes local phone calls and provides area news and traffic information in-depth.
“Mornings with Ric Federighi” features open phone lines where callers take an active role in the show and have the opportunity to talk with some of the political and influential names in the area.
The station's format involves news twice an hour; traffic four times an hour; local sports twice an hour; local calls and entertainment throughout.
The rest of the schedule consists of a wide variety of syndicated programs, including Joy Browne, Lou Dobbs, Free Talk Live, Jim Bohannon, Alex Jones and Jeff Rense.
