The Wilton Mall now has its fifth anchor, JCPenney. This fifth anchor was intended for Montgomery Ward, but it never came to The Wilton Mall due to bankruptcy in 1998. Later Boscov's was said to become Wilton Mall's fifth anchor store. However, officials in the Town of Clifton Park, New York convinced Boscov's to build a store at Clifton Park Center instead. Most recently Wilton Mall's space has been recently identified for development of a new, larger 84,000-square-foot JCPenney to replace the existing one on the other side of the building.[3]
