The school colors are Navy Blue and Gold and the school's mascot is a Mule (Seymour). Historic note: One of Wilson's alumni went on to fame in the NFL, Ben Davidson, Oakland Raiders, who coincidentally never played football for Wilson, he was on the basketball team.

[edit] History
The new Wilson High School opened in 1970.
In 1970, Woodrow Wilson Senior High School moved to its new campus on top of Multhnomah St. On a clear day, you can see Catalina Island to the south and Mt. Baldy to the north. Once Wilson opened its new doors, it became the major landmark of El Sereno. Woodrow Wilson Senior High School was designed by a famous California architect named Paul Williams. Wilson was the first LAUSD School to implement multi-floored buildings equipped with elevators and escalators to accommodate disabled students.
Wilson HS has had problems with overcrowding. As with most inner-city public schools, the large influx of the student population has been a cause of concern for administrators and parents alike. With a set capacitance prescribed almost 40 years ago when Wilson was built, this past decade has been a struggle for students as their educational experience is amid overcrowded classrooms and under staffed faculty.
In 2007 Wilson High School celebrated their 70th anniversary.
Central Region High School 15 will open in 2012 [1], relieving Wilson.
[edit] Marching Mule Band
The Marching Mule Band is under the direction of Veronica Gonzalez since 2003. This year, they have participated in the Granada Hills Competition, the annual Christmas Parade in Highland Park, and the LAUSD Band & Drill Competition.
In the Granada Hills Competition, Drill Team placed 1st, Percussion placed 2nd, and Band placed 3rd. At the Highland Park Parade, Wilson won back 1st place after losing it last year to Franklin High Band. Finally, at the LAUSD Competition, Wilson received 5th place; the results were as follows: LA High, Chatsworth, Huntington Park, Verdugo Hills, Wilson, Fremont, Bell, South Gate, Hollywood, Franklin and Kennedy.
The 2007-2008 drum major is Joanne Han.
