The Wilmington Sharks are a baseball team in the Coastal Plain League. The team plays its home games at Buck Hardee Field in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Sharks were on of the first teams to participate in the new CPL when the league was founded in 1997. The two best seasons in the history of the franchise were 1999 and 2002. The 1999 team compiled a record of 33-16 and the 2002 team went 16-8. In both of these seasons the Sharks finished atop their division for having the best record. The 1999 team won the first half of the CPL season.
