Willing Suspension Productions is an extension of the Boston University English Graduate program and was founded in 1993 at Boston University. Specializing in rare English Renaissance drama, the group has been responsible for launching the careers of several academicsincluding the group's principle founder, Andrew Hartley. Their 2006 production, The Maid's Tragedy, was their first play since their 1999 production, The Knight of the Burning Pestle.
Willing Suspension Productions is notable for being one of the few theatre groups in the United States that specializes in rare English renaissance plays and for the unique workshop environment graduate students obtain through directing.
