Willie George, born in Texas, has founded a variety of ministries. He is most known for his children's ministries, but he also pastors Church on the Move (COTM), of Tulsa, which has become one of Oklahoma's largest churches.
Before starting COTM in 1987, George served for many years in both children's and youth ministry in the Oklahoma and Texas area. George is an excellent "preacher", but has been criticized by some for his lack of any formal seminary-based training, although his knowledge of the history of the Bible is excellent.
George created and starred in the nation's most-watched Christian show for kids, The Gospel Bill Show. This program, which began airing in 1981, used the western-style adventures of Gospel Bill, played by George, to teach biblical principles. It began a trend of quality television programming that gained Willie George Ministries international acclaim.
To date, over 250,000 ministers have been personally trained in a Willie George Ministries conference, and tens of thousands of churches across America use the ministry's curriculum for children and youth. Pastor George was recently named one of the "50 Most Influential Christians in America" by Church Executive Magazine.
Willie George has been married to his wife Deleva for nearly thirty years and have four children and seven grandchildren.
