[edit] Mock "disaster"
Following the school shooting at Columbine High School, Williams Bay High School took part in a simulated school shooting to train local law enforcement on procedures pertaining to the matter. This drill was filmed and shown along with interviews of school officials and community members on the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. It was originally set to be the focus of the night on August 10, 1999, however, earlier in the day white supremacist Buford O. Furrow, Jr. opened fire at the North Valley Jewish Community Center in Granada Hills, Los Angeles, California, and took priority in the newscast.[1]
