William Joseph Blazkowicz is the fictional protagonist of the Wolfenstein series of video games.
[edit] Character history
William Blazkowicz was born on August 15, 1911, son of Polish immigrants. He was a top spy for the Allied forces during World War II, he received the Medal of Honor and other accolades. He was also known for his muscular frame, standing 6 ft 4 (1,93 m) in height and weighing 210 lb (95 kg). William was called "B.J." by his friends, and he got married after the war, at age 40, to Julia Marie Peterson. Their son, Arthur Kenneth Blazkowicz became a television talk show personality in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For show biz purposes, Arthur changed his last name to Blaze. Then, he married Susan Elizabeth McMichaels. They had one son, which was named after Arthur's father, William Joseph Blazkowicz II, or as he signs his grade school homework, B. Blaze.
His first official appearance was in Wolfenstein 3D, and starred all later Wolfenstein games following it (not including the multiplayer Enemy Territory).
B. Blaze is actually a reference to Billy Blaze, the protagonist of Commander Keen, another game that had been created by id Software.
