William W. Wirtz was the fifth head college football coach for the Northern Illinois University Huskies located in DeKalb, Illinois and he held that position for seven seasons, from 1910 until 1916. His career coaching record at Northern Illinois was 33 wins, 17 losses, and 9 ties. This ranks him fourth at Northern Illinois in total wins and fifth at Northern Illinois in winning percentage.[1] He also served as the school's men's basketball coach.
