William Stevenson (New Zealander)

Sir William Stevenson, KBE CStJ, full name William Alfred Stevenson (1901 – 1983), was a New Zealand industrialist and philanthropist.

He was the son of William Stevenson who founded the company Stevenson Group in 1912. Sir William was Chairman of the Howick Town Board (1944 – 1947) then Mayor (1953 – 1963) of Howick, New Zealand. Sir William was knighted for his service to the community and was a philanthropist who supported many causes and charities. He was an industrialist, a contractor, a great sportsman and a New Zealand single sculls rowing champion.
