William Sharpey

William Sharpey (1802-1880) was a Scottish anatomist and physiologist.
[edit] Life and Career
Dr. William Sharpey was a correspondent with and friend of Charles Darwin. He contributed to the many editions of ‘Quain’s Anatomy’ and was one of the Secretaries of the Royal Society. He was also on the Commission on Scientific Instruction and the Advancement of Science, was a member of the Senate of the University of London and was also a Fellow of the Geological Society. In 1874 Dr. Sharpey received a Civil Service Pension from the Government.
