William Russ (born October 20, 1950 in Portsmouth, Virginia) is an American actor. He has appeared in many made-for-TV movies.

[edit] Early life
'Rusty' Russ attended the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the Michigan Cheer team (which was all male at the time).

Russ' best known role is probably that as Alan Matthews, Cory Matthews's father on the sitcom Boy Meets World.
He also played the part of United States Air Force test pilot "Slick" Goodlin in the 1983 film The Right Stuff. He played the role of Nick Bartkowski in Jim Kouf's comedy Disorganized Crime; Danny and Derek Vinyard's father in American History X. He appeared in two popular Michael Mann projects: Miami Vice and Crime Story. Russ has an uncredited cameo in the seaQuest DSV episode "Give Me Liberte" where his character's name is Rusty Thomas. "Rusty" is his real-life nickname.
He is also well-known to fans of the TV series Wiseguy as arms dealer Roger Lococco:

He is married to actress Clare Wren and has a daughter and son. He enjoys downhill skiing and windsurfing.
