William Paul Shao, born Mzee Israel Paul Shao on March 18, 1973, is a Tanzanian journalist, author and IT technician. He is best known for his first book written in Kiswahili, MIAKA 2000 YA UKRISTO: HISTORIA ILIYOPOTOSHWA (2006), which is the most widely-read book in Tanzania. In English, the title of the book means: 2000 YEARS OF CHRISTIANITY: A DISTORTED HISTORY.
Raised by Christian parents in the Uuwo village of Moshi Rural in North Tanzania, Shao excelled at primary school up to secondary school. He became fascinated with world religions and traditional African cultures, and began writing stories.
