William Nowland

William Nowland (b. September 1804 - d. April 28th, 1884) is the son of Michael Nowland, and the discoverer of Nowlands Gap, the "gateway" to the Liverpool Plains and first road into the Hunter Valley. His body laid to rest in TBA near Singleton NSW. His headstone is huge and reads; "Earth to earth, Dust to Dust. Calmly now the words we say. Leaving him to sleep in trust. Till the Resurrection-day. Father, in thy gracious keeping, leave we now thy servant sleeping." He had many children including Alfred Nowland
